The teen years are often the most difficult of their lives, for many people. Our bodies are almost fully developed, and we may be intelligent, and knowledgeable, but the human mind takes several more years to reach a level of emotional maturity. There may be many things pulling us in different directions, and it's not hard to lose your way.
Although my teens are now well behind me, I remember full well the turmoil, self doubt, and uncertainty, and it was scary stuff. How I got through it, I don't know: pure dumb luck, I suppose! The internet wasn't around then; I couldn't talk to my parents about it, and my friends were just as clueless as I was.
If the resources on social skills and dating advice, had been available then, my life would have developed much differently, and for the better, probably.

BULLYING:
Go to: http://www.bullyonline.org/schoolbully/ & http://www.nmha.org/go/get-info/ & http://www.recoveryourlife.com & http://www.teencentral.net/ & http://au.reachout.com/find/issues/Safety-violence/bullying/ Workplace bullying: see http://www.workplacebullying.org/ ALWAYS fight back! even if only to tell them to go forth and multiply, or: "HEY! you don't want to be late for your class in how to be an ASSHOLE do you?" or Google: "insults" (Have a repertoire of responses memorised; use a different one each time with that person: [maybe ask some friends, or copy, but modify what others say in those situations] and practise the delivery in a mirror at home). Report persistent offenders: demand effective action: remind them that they have a duty of care, and are responsible for providing an environment conducive to learning, and that there have been many recent successful legal proceedings against those institutions which failed to take such action, on having been informed of a problem. Tell them you want to be a lawyer, so you can sue such places. Consider taping the bullying, secretly, as evidence (illegal in some countries, but the internet is worldwide, and I am unaware as to which country you are in).
Also see http://www.verbalabuse.com/indexmain.shtml & http://www.allaboutlifechallenges.org/ DECIDE not to be a victim. Take a self defence course, then a martial art, like Kung Fu, or Tae Kwon Do. Warn bullies first, and never start trouble; you have a legal right to use REASONABLE FORCE to defend youself. If they are the aggressor, and physically stronger, your right to an appropriate response is enhanced. Most people are suggestible, to some extent, so consider professional hypnotherapy, or: http://www.hypnosisdownloads.com Partners: Verbal Self Defense + Assertiveness Training. "Develop advanced verbal self-defense skills. Have you noticed some people tie you up in knots by what they say to you - and the way they say it? Do you ever feel helpless and angry that you can't make your point in these situations?
If you often feel verbally assaulted then some verbal self defense skills will reverse those situations for good. Words can be used as weapons. You may know someone who uses the machine gun technique - asking you question after question without giving you a chance to answer. Or maybe you are subjected to someone who makes snide sarcastic jokes at your expense. Perhaps they are 'good with words' and make you feel verbally clumsy or inept. Learn verbal self defense skills and astonish your attacker. Verbal self defense isn't about becoming angry, shouting or being aggressive. There are a few simple rules to verbal self defense that will allow you to defend yourself with dignity. Verbal Self Defense will teach you these key rules and train your brain to stay relaxed in those tricky situations, ensuring you can respond and not freeze or clam up.
This is essential, because it's easy to know what you should say during times of verbal assault but it's another thing having the presence of mind to defend yourself verbally." Google: "humor; insults" Memorize several. Never repeat one; learn new ones, or make them up. "Better hurry up; you're going to be late for A55HOLE CLA55" & "I see your mother is still (cutting your hair/dressing you); does she still tie your shoelaces as well?", and so on. When you consistently don't respond in the way they desire, and prove yourself a difficult target, they are much more likely to avoid you, and find someone easier, and you will feel much better about yourself for having stood up to them.
STUDYING ADVICE: (more is on page P, at this website ).
Drink 2 cups of green tea; sweeten, if desired, but NO MILK! Take at least 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily: (certified free of mercury) it is best if consumed with an antioxidant, such as an orange, or its FRESHLY SQUEEZED juice. If vitamin E is added, it should be certified as being 100% from natural sources, or it may be synthetic: avoid it! Try Gingko Biloba (herbal remedy) for several weeks. EXAMINATIONS: Always carry a spare pen, and calculator, or at least, fresh batteries/ensure fully charged. Get there early, so you aren't rushed, and ensure you have an empty bladder just beforehand. Don't be tempted to "cram" at the expense of sleep, because it reduces cognitive performance, and increases error rates. Read the question carefully, and ensure you know EXACTLY what the examiner is asking for. Note the number of marks for each question, and set your time limits accordingly. I used to quickly go through all those I could answer well, then spend time on the others. <><><><><>
MEMORY IMPROVEMENT
There are two types of memory: Long term memory and short term memory. Short term memory doesn't last long and is easily replaced by new information, unless you somehow link it to other information in your brain. It generally takes about 30 minutes of constant thinking and reinforcement or study of that new information for that information to enter into your long term memory, so you have a chance to recall it. This is called consolidation.
If you want to try to remember things better, try using repetition, or just write things down. ENDS. (AND MINE): One way to remember things is to tell yourself a little story about them: for example: I knew a woman called Mrs. Duster, who was a teacher, so I visualised her picking up a blackboard duster, to erase the writing in chalk, and writing: "I just used a duster to erase the writing on this blackboard. My name is Mrs. Duster." It works better if the association/story you make is as funny, or outrageous as possible. I saw a recent documentary about a man with a good/ordinary memory, who taught himself to memorise 520 playing cards, in random order, within 20 minutes, and be able to recall any and all cards (e.g.: deck 10, card 39:- the 7 of diamonds, etc.). He did this by walking a route around London, until he knew it off by heart, then, later in the test he would tell himself a little story about each card, in relation to his memorised position, during the walk. Apparently, human memory is much better for places, than random associations. Join, or start study groups. Having a good, or at least, a well ordered memory makes study much easier, and less frustrating, so if yours needs improving, use the methods shown below. View: http://www.how-to-study.com/ & http://www.studytips.org/ & http://www.studygs.net/ It's a good idea to know your learning style, and adapt accordingly; see http://www.learning-styles-online.com/ & http://www.vark-learn.com/english/page.asp?p=questionnaire
Take at least 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements*, daily: (certified free of mercury) it is best if consumed with an antioxidant, such as an orange, or grapefruit, or their FRESHLY SQUEEZED juice. If vitamin E is added, it should be certified as being 100% from natural sources, or it may be synthetic: avoid it. Alternatively, you could go to the searchbar at http://www.mercola.com and enter: "krill oil". While you are there, enter "nutritional type", (for their book) or http://www.naturalhealthcoach.com/tools/ (free online quiz) and eat more in accordance with yours. Exercise moderately, for 30 - 60 mns, daily.
The supplements, DHEA & Phosphatidyl Serine are some that I have been informed are worth trying. Ginkgo biloba is often recommended, but has mixed reviews, so check the comparative strength, and buy from a health food, or vitamin store; ask what feedback they have been getting, and what else they suggest (write down, and check them out, later, through Google, WebFerret, or your search engine, before buying).
Most people are suggestible, to some degree, so you could either seek professional hypnotherapy, or, quicker, cheaper, and more conveniently: http://www.asktheinternettherapist.com - Improving Study Skills CD - MP3 & Concentration and Focus CD - MP3 & Increasing Memory CD - MP3 or at http://www.hypnosisdownloads.com Attention In Class, & Improving Concentration and Focus, & Remember What You Read; enter "studying", & "memory improvement" in the searchbar. At: http://www.instant-hypnosis.com/ Increase Your IQ Some free ones on memory are at: http://www.freehypnosistreatment.com *Note: Dr. Mercola at www.mercola.com asserts that krill oil is superior to standard Omega 3 fish oil, or that, at least the brands he recommends are, and I am persuaded that he is probably correct. See: FISH OR KRILL OIL? IS KRILL OIL 48x BETTER THAN FISH OIL? via the Mercola.com searchbar.
Lecithin* (phosphatidyl choline). A phospholipid found mostly in high-fat foods. It is said to have the ability to improve memory and brain processes. Lecithin is necessary for normal brain development. Lecithin capsules are available, but many people prefer the soft lecithin granules. These are a nice addition to fruit juice smoothies, adding a thicker texture. Lecithin is oil-based, and it gets rancid easily. It should be refrigerated (from health food stores). _____________________________________________________________________________________
